I am certainly a creature of habit for many things, especially when it comes to my morning routine. I love starting my days with earl grey tea, a big glass of water and then my dairy free yogurt + berries + chia/flax seeds + granola.
Many of my clients are also yogurt people and a common area of confusion is the yogurt aisle! Soooo many labels, flavors, ingredients, milk varieties…how do you ever make sense of it all?
My rule of thumb for yogurt is keep it as simple as possible. Even if you don’t eat dairy, these rules below are great for dairy free options as well.
Here are my top tips for understanding the yogurt aisle:
✨ Opt for Greek or Icelandic yogurt for more protein
✨ Say no to non-fat and opt for full-fat or low-fat varieties
✨ Choose yogurts with more grams of protein than grams of sugar
✨ Stick to plain yogurt and add fresh berries for natural sweetness
✨ Keep it simple with fewer ingredients and avoid artificial sweeteners like sucrose, corn syrup, and xylitol
✨ Want to add a little extra punch to your breakfast routine? Add a scoop of protein powder to your yogurt to help stabilize blood sugar and increase muscle development
